Helvellyn 24-3-2004
There was snow from 700m and it had been below 0 on the tops for over 3 days. I decided to make the most of what was forecast to be a good day and probably the last cold one. It was a good move it turned into and excellent day.
I have been wanting to climb the Gully on the north of Catstye Cam in winter conditions for over 10 years but conditions have not let me until now. After climbing Catstye Cam I dropped down and contoured round the NE face of Helvellyn where I took a direct line to the top.
