Held at County office on Thursday 20-11-08 at 20:00
Keith Hampson, Chris Harbut, Ken Sever, Gareth Williams, Caroline McCann, Tim Crowther, Steven Bradley.
To Caroline McCann who gained her SPA earlier in the year and is now working towards being validated as an assessor.
The dates for these would normally have been set at this meeting but county wanted them last month so a consensuses was taken at a cube planning meeting at Linnet Clough to produce date the same w/e as last year. It was found last year that the security on steep ground was too hurried over an evening so it will be a full day
Wall climbing at Linnet Clough 14th & 21 May.
Basic Hill walking; 18th & 21 June evening session at County office.
Security on Steep ground; Sunday12th July. This was run for the first time this year, our concern that an evening would not be long enough proved to be correct. This year we will run a full day session.
Leaders Climbing club
This got off to a shaky start last summer but there are now monthly sessions alternating between Thursdays and Tuesdays. These are at Awesome Wall Stockport until the weather improved next Spring.
The Cube is in and 2 lots of training has taken place. There are now a number qualified as assessors. Their first training session is on 29th & 30th November.
It is proposed to run another session 17/18 Jan.
Water
The scout association has arranged for the Amateur Rowing Association to run a level 2 pulling course for potential assessors. Applications by 12 December. Date of training 24th Jan & 7-8th Feb.
Archery
The system operated by GMN will not be implemented by Linnet Clough until Gilwell (scout HQ) will put in writing that it is acceptable and complies with POR.
Caroline advised that HQ is going ahead with implementing its own Archery training it is in negotiations with GNAS and it is hoped that an early resolution will be forthcoming.
Tim Crowther is unable to assist in running a joint GME /GMN w/e this year. It was agreed that Keith & Ken would run one for GME on 6-8 Feb 09. Tim is to let Keith have details of his recommended accommodation in Aberfeldy. It was agreed there would be a max of 12 clients and they would all need to hold an existing hill walking permit to attend.
It was felt as the county wanted dates for next years diary by the end of October that we should hold next years meeting around the beginning of October.
